Vijay thalapathy at the launch of his political party
Actor-politician Vijay, in his first speech at his party's conference, declared that the BJP and the ruling DMK are the main enemies of his party. He promised a new kind of politics that focuses on equality, social justice, and the betterment of Tamil Nadu.
At the launch of his political party, Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay addressed a large crowd of supporters and called them "bros," a friendly term used in Tamil Nadu. He compared politics to a snake, saying it’s risky, but he and his followers are ready to face it.
Vijay denied claims that his party is just a "B-team" of other parties and said some people try to label new political entrants to deceive the public. He accused the DMK of being run by a selfish family that harms the people, despite calling their governance the "Dravidian model."
He stressed that his party stands against forces dividing the state and corrupt political systems. He also emphasized the importance of youth in leading change, asking why politics can't evolve like science and technology.
Vijay highlighted key leaders like Periyar, Kamarajar, and Ambedkar as inspirations for TVK’s focus on social justice and equality. He also said that his party is the first to have a woman as an ideological head, mentioning freedom fighters Velu Nachiyar and Anjalai Ammal.
While promising a politics without hate, Vijay vowed to fight corruption and inequality. He acknowledged that TVK would face opposition but said the party is here to fight for fairness in Tamil Nadu politics. He made it clear that TVK is against both the ruling DMK and BJP.
Vijay defended himself against critics who called him "just an entertainer," saying that cinema has the power to bring social change, and his move into politics is serious. He ended his speech with a promise that each vote for TVK in the 2026 elections would bring significant change and vowed to share power with those who support the party.
